| Scholarship Committee Education Talk Series Presents: A Call to Teaching: What does Arne Duncan’s Speech mean for the Future of Teaching and Teacher Education Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Regional Education Center (ES 202) 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Scholarship Committee Education Talk Series will launch its first open forum as an attempt to bring the faculty together in a collegial discussion over issues of education. In our first year we hope to address the issues surrounding the education of teachers by addressing economic, social, and political forces impacting teachers, teacher education, and schools in Michigan. Our first talk will begin with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s recent speech at the University of Virginia, “A Call to Teach,” followed by a discussion moderated by David M. Callejo Pérez. Faculty and students are welcomed. We aspire to involve faculty and students in engaging conversations over the important topic of teaching and preparation of teachers.
